Complete detailed financial reports are available to every member.Requested reports will be available to view at our board meetings.
Board meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month.These meetings are open and all parents are encouraged to attend. This is your opportunity to learn what the association is doing and to be aware of any changes that may take place during the season.Don’t rely on “rumors” heard at the rinks. Time is allotted at every meeting for members to voice their questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Coaches are volunteers.They give countless hours of time – not just during games and practices – to make your child’s hockey experience the best it can be. Here’s what you can do to make the coach’s experience the best it can be:
Arrive on time to practices and games.Being late disrupts ice time for everyone.
Communicate.If your child will miss a practice or game, give the coach as much notice as possible so, if necessary, other arrangements can be made.
Respond to emails promptly. This is the quickest communication method for a coach to distribute and gather information.
Help your child to understand that he or she is part of a team.Hockey is not an individual sport.
Volunteer.Whether you’re helping the team or the entire organization, getting involved benefits everyone.Remember, your child’s coach has a family, a job, and other personal responsibilities.
Handle complaints and questions sensibly.Just before or just after a game is not the best time to approach the coach especially for a petty complaint. Find out from your child’s coach when a good time would be.Serious safety issues should obviously be brought to the coach’s attention immediately.
Be appreciative.A thank you goes a long way!
T.Y.S.A. holds several fundraising events each season.The proceeds from our fundraisers are deducted from each member’s hockey bill. The more successful the fundraiser, the bigger the credit will be.While it is not expected that every member will participate in every event, please partake however you can.
The success of this organization is totally dependant on volunteers.Board members, Coaches, Team Moms, and Level Coordinators- all volunteers - can not do it alone.Participation by all of our parents is essential.There are many opportunities throughout the season to get involved.
Each level in our association – Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, and Bantam – has a Level Coordinator.The Level Coordinator periodically monitors each team at their assigned level and gathers information used in the selection process for the following season.The Level Coordinator is also the liaison between parents and coaches when a situation arises that can not be worked out between the parent and coach alone. The name and contact information for your Level Coordinator is available on your team page on the website.
If you have a complaint, concern or suggestion that can not wait to be brought up at a board meeting, contacting your Level Coordinator or a Board member is your next option.All Board members are available to hear your concerns but speaking to the “right” Board member will expedite a resolution to the situation. Keep in mind though when they’re at the rink, they are there to watch their child play. Contact information is available on our website.
